Privacy Policy

Effective October 9, 2026

DeskSip is built to help you feel better while you work without watching you do it. This policy explains what the DeskSip iPhone app and the desksip.com website do with information, and what happens to data from the retired DeskSip Chrome extension.

The short version: the iPhone app keeps everything on your iPhone. We don't collect, sell or share your data. There's no account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking and no camera.

The DeskSip iPhone app

Your data stays on your iPhone

Everything you record in DeskSip stays on your device. That covers Desk Days, drinks, Desk Resets, eye breaks, focus sessions, and your goals and schedule. It's saved in a database inside the app on your iPhone. The app has no servers to send it to, and it never sends it anywhere. We never see it.

We don't collect, sell, rent or share any personal data, and we have none to share.

No account, analytics, ads or tracking

  • No account. You don't sign up or sign in.
  • No analytics or crash reporting. The app doesn't measure how you use it.
  • No ads and no tracking. The app doesn't track you across apps or websites, and it contains no advertising or tracking code.
  • No camera. The app never asks for camera access and can't use it. It also doesn't use your location, contacts, microphone or Apple Health data.

Reminders are local notifications

If you turn on reminders, iOS asks for permission to send notifications. DeskSip schedules them on your iPhone as local notifications. They're never sent from a server. Each reminder contains only a short message, never your wellness data. You can turn reminders off in the app or in iOS Settings, and the app works fully without them.

Deleting your data

  • Settings → Delete local history deletes your recorded wellness history from your iPhone after you confirm. Your goals, schedule and reminder settings stay.
  • Deleting the app removes all of its data from your iPhone, including your settings.

Because we never receive your data, we have nothing to delete on our side.

Backups

Your iPhone's own backups, to your computer or to iCloud, may include DeskSip's data, depending on your settings. Those backups are controlled by you and Apple, not by us, and we can't access them. Apple's handling of them is covered by Apple's privacy policy.

Not a medical app

DeskSip is a general wellness tool. It doesn't diagnose, treat or prevent any medical condition, and it doesn't collect health records.

The desksip.com website

  • No analytics, cookies or tracking. The website doesn't use analytics, advertising or tracking scripts, and it doesn't set cookies.
  • No sign-ups. The website doesn't collect your name or email address.
  • Hosting. The site is hosted by Vercel. As with any website, Vercel's servers handle standard request information, such as your IP address, browser type and the page requested, to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. We don't use that information to identify or profile visitors.
  • Free tools. The calculators and quizzes run entirely in your browser. What you type into them isn't sent to us. The Pomodoro timer saves its sip count in your browser's local storage so it survives a page refresh, and it shows browser notifications only if you allow them. You can clear both in your browser settings.

The retired DeskSip Chrome extension

The DeskSip Chrome extension has been retired and is no longer offered. If you still have it installed:

  • Camera. The extension used your webcam only to detect sips on your computer. No video, images or camera data ever left your device.
  • Local data. Your goal, sip times, streak and settings are stored in your browser and are removed when you uninstall the extension. We never received any of it.

Children

DeskSip isn't directed at children under 13, and we don't knowingly collect information from anyone.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update this page and the effective date above. If a change affects how the iPhone app handles your data, we'll also note it in the app's release notes on the App Store before it takes effect.
